Throughout the entire week of May 16, WBBM’s Noon Business Hour is focusing on education with a variety of expert interviews providing information on the college application process. Lasting through May 20, find out more about Education Week here.

Thursday’s interview subject: Deb Donley, Post-High School Counselor at New Trier High School. WBBM Newsradio’s Kris Kridel and Cisco Cotto talked to Donley, asking her how high school students can stand out when applying for college.

How can a student make their admission essay stand out?

“It’s vital that a student develop his or her own voice…” Donley told WBBM. “It has to be something that is relatable… Something that indicates something about the student other than the flat transcript of grades and ACT scores.”
