(CBS) — As her campaign continues, so does Hillary Clinton’s need for funds.
She was in the Chicago region Thursday for two fundraisers — one with old friends and neighbors, the other with supporters in the black community.
CBS 2’s Mike Parker was on hand as the former U.S. senator and secretary of state arrived in northwest suburban Park Ridge, where she grew up.
Hundreds of people had turned out to welcome Mrs. Clinton back to her home town. They’d been waiting for hours.
Barbara Versino says she usually doesn’t participate in fundraisers but paid $45 to see Clinton.
The welcome was not entirely pleasant. More than 100 protestors picketed the fundraising event. Some of their signs read: “NO on Hillary,” and “Jail for Hillary.”
None of that affected one woman’s view of the candidate. Bonnie Klehr was a classmate of Clinton’s and a friend for years.
“She was the smartest girl in school. She certainly was a leader,” she says.
