Wounded Park Forest Police Officer Making 'Small Steps Every Day'
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A critically wounded Park Forest police officer remains high on the minds of his fellow officers and the people of his community.
It was 11 weeks ago tomorrow that officer Tim Jones was shot by an alleged home invasion suspect, WBBM's Bernie Tafoya reports.
"Officer Jones is continuing to make small steps every day," said Deputy Police Chief Christopher Mannino.
"The long-term prognosis is still unknown. This is the most significant event to happen in the history of this department. Every day, he is on our minds."
Fund-raising has been constant for the past 21/2 months.
Those efforts have raised about $100,000 toward Jones' family and his care.

TimStrong wristbands continue to be sold for $5 and Mannino says there's almost always a fundraiser planned privately to try to raise money for Officer Tim Jones' family and his eventual care.
The 24-year old officer was shot as he and another officer confronted a home invasion suspect coming out of a vacant house on March 19.
He says there's a car wash planned this Sunday sponsored by Family Video and a Boy Scout troop.
