(CBS) — A fiery crash on the eastbound Indiana Toll Road has left one person dead.

It happened shortly after 3 p.m. Monday.

Two semi-tractor-trailer trucks collided, and one caught fire.

Police have confirmed one fatality as the result of the crash, and some injuries.

Indiana State Police initially closed all eastbound lanes of the toll road in La Porte County at mile marker 42 but reopened one lane around 7 p.m.

Traffic is being diverted to mile marker 31, which is State Road 49, and mile marker 39, which is US 421.

Police were urging motorists to seek alternate routes. They’re expecting extremely long backups and delays.
