Chicago Begins Ticketing Cars Without City Stickers

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The city of Chicago is getting tough on those who are tardy buying their vehicle stickers.

Do the math and there's no good reason not to buy the stickers, which cost $85.97 for smaller passenger vehicles and $136.50 for those that are larger. Those who fail to comply can get a ticket a day -- each one costing $200. In addition, there is a $60 penalty fee if you are more than a month late. The old 15-day grace period is dead, too.

You can buy stickers at the clerk's office in City Hall and at 350 other locations in the city and suburbs.
