Three Slain In Elkhart Shooting

Three men were shot and killed late Sunday night in Elkhart, Indiana.

Elkhart police said officers responded to a shooting around 11:15 p.m. at a home near Strong Avenue and Riverside Drive.

Offices found two men inside the home, and a third man on the lawn outside. All three were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police said it appears two men wearing masks broke into the home, and began shooting, killing the three victims. Three other adults and four children who were in the home at the time were not injured.

Investigators believe the shooting was a targeted attack.

As police were investigating, several bystanders began gathering outside the crime scene, and some people tried to cross the perimeter, police said. One person was arrested for interfering with police, and another was arrested for disorderly conduct. Additional police were called to the scene to help secure the crime scene.

"The Elkhart Police Department respects the emotional impact that an incident like this causes on the family and friends of those involved. We will continue to work with those who have been affected and ask that they do the same with us. Ultimately we all have the same goal; bringing those responsible to justice," Elkhart police said Monday morning.

No one was in custody Monday morning. Anyone with information about the shooting should call Elkhart police at 574-295-7070 or the anonymous tip line at 574-389-4777.
