CHICAGO (STMW) — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a freight train early Wednesday in south suburban Blue Island.
About 3:30 a.m., a CSX train traveling from Chicago to Philadelphia struck a pedestrian walking on the railroad tracks at 127th Street in Blue Island, according to a statement from a CSX spokesperson.READ MORE: 1 Killed, 4 Injured In Evanston Shooting

Train traffic in the area was suspended while authorities completed their investigation. Normal operations resumed about 7:15 a.m.
