Bears' Jeremy Langford: 'Game's Slowing Down' For Me

Kevin Millar with Mully and Haugh

(CBS) Jeremy Langford still remembers that first moment he felt like an NFL running back.

Speaking to the Spiegel & Goff Show on Tuesday, Langford looked back to his rookie season with the Bears.

"That first moment was running out the tunnel -- even in a preseason game, running out the Chicago Bears' tunnel," Langford said. "That's when I felt it the most. It's a dream come true."

Now, the 24-year-old Langford is entering his second season and has been tasked with serving as the Bears' primary ball-carrier. He rushed for 537 yards and six touchdowns last season and now feels like a different player entering his second year in the NFL.

"The game's slowing down a little bit more than it did last year," Langford said. "I'm just getting the hang of the offense, learning more of the offense besides just playing running back."

Langford was thrust into the starting role for the Bears when the team elected to move on from Matt Forte, a mainstay with the organization for eight seasons. When it became clear to Forte that his time was coming to an end, he became influential in helping Langford prepare for his chance.

"I feel like he taught me a lot," Langford said. "It is what it is, football is football. He took me under his wing. I'm going to have to do that for somebody else coming up in a couple years."
