CHICAGO (CBS) — A 61-year-old west suburban Aurora man died after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a pickup truck in Geneva on Wednesday, according to police and fire officials.

At 4:36 p.m., emergency responders were sent to a crash involving a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Fabyan Parkway west of Kingsland Drive, according to the Geneva Police Department.

The crash occurred at the entrance of the Settlers Hill Golf Course as the motorcyclist drove west on Fabyan and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and struck the pickup truck as it was exiting the golf course drive, police said. The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown to the road.

The motorcyclist was taken by helicopter to Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva where he was pronounced dead, according to the Batavia Fire Department.

The Kane County coroner’s office could not immediately confirm the death.

The 62-year-old South Elgin man who was driving the pickup was uninjured and released at the scene, authorities said.
