13 Wounded In Monday Shootings Across Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) -- At least 13 people were wounded in shootings Monday on the city's South and West sides.
Most recently, two men and a teenage boy were shot in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side.
The two 18-year-olds and the 15-year-old boy were walking in an alley at 10:05 p.m. in the 200 block of East 48th Street when a male in a white T-shirt fired shots in their direction, according to Chicago Police.
The boy was shot in the back and taken to Comer Children's Hospital in serious condition. One of the men was shot in the left shoulder and taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said. The other man suffered a graze wound to the back and refused medical attention. Police said the shooting appeared to have been gang-related.
Less than an hour earlier, a man showed up at a hospital after was shot in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood on the South Side. The 21-year-old was shot in the hand in the 2300 block of South Western, police said. He took himself to St. Anthony Hospital about 9:10 p.m., where he was listed in good condition.
About 3:05 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in the right side of his abdomen in the 10100 block of South Avenue L in the East Side neighborhood on the South Side, police said. He took himself to Trinity Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
At 2:47 p.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in the back in the 3300 block of West Augusta in the West Side Humboldt Park neighborhood, police said. He was taken in serious condition to Norwegian American Hospital.
Monday morning, a man who had been shot repeatedly was dropped off at a West Side hospital. The 43-year-old man was dropped off by an acquaintance at Mount Sinai Hospital about 10 a.m. with gunshot wounds to the shoulder and both legs, according to police. Investigators believe the shooting happened in the vicinity of Douglas Park, near Sacramento and Fillmore. Additional details weren't immediately available.
At 4:56 a.m., a 20-year-old man was wounded in another Heart of Chicago neighborhood shooting. He was shot in the armpit in the 1600 block of West 18th Street and taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. Police said the man, a documented gang member, was being uncooperative with investigators and would not give details about the shooting.
Less than an hour earlier, a man was shot and critically wounded in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. The 33-year-old was found unresponsive about 4 a.m. lying in the street in the first block of North Kilbourn, police said. He had been shot in the head and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Earlier Monday, a 16-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet in the West Side Austin neighborhood. The teenager suffered a graze wound to the leg about 1:35 a.m. in the 4900 block of West Hubbard, police said. He refused medical attention and was not cooperating with investigators.
At 1:07 a.m., an 18-year-old man was wounded in a separate Austin neighborhood attack. He was walking north in the 300 block of North Central when he heard gunfire and realized he'd been shot in the leg, police said. The man was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where his condition was stabilized. A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
A man was shot at 12:18 a.m. in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side. The 29-year-old was walking to his vehicle in the 12000 block of South Parnell when two males fired shots in his direction and ran away, police said. The man was shot in the foot and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in fair condition.
Monday's first shooting happened at 12:07 a.m. in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side. A 38-year-old man was sitting on a porch in the 2100 block of West 70th Place when two men walked up, an argument ensued, and the men pulled out guns and exchanged gunfire with the 38-year-old, police said. He suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and was taken in critical condition to Christ Medical Center.
