Bicyclist Killed By Semi In Noble Square

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A woman riding a bike was killed when she was hit by a semi-trailer truck in the Noble Square neighborhood Tuesday morning.

Police said a 21-year-old woman was riding a bike in the 800 block of North Milwaukee Avenue around 8:15 a.m. when she was struck by a flatbed semi.

The woman was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. She was identified as Lisa Kuivinen of the 3700 block of Wren Lane in northwest suburban Rolling Meadows, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The truck driver, a 37-year-old man, stayed at the scene after hitting the woman. Police said he could face traffic citations.
