Jonathan Toews Named An Alternate Captain For Canada In World Cup Of Hockey

(CBS) Blackhawks star Jonathan Toews has been named an alternate captain for Team in the World Cup of Hockey.

Penguins star Sidney Crosby is Team Canada's captain.

Toews has been the Blackhawks' captain since 2008-'09. He won a gold medal with Canada in the Olympics in 2010 and 2014.

The World Cup of Hockey is an eight-team tournament that starts Sept. 17 and and will be held in Toronto over a two-week stretch. More than 170 NHL players will participate. Canada, the Czech Republic, Europe, Sweden, North America, Russia, Sweden and USA are the eight teams in the field.
