Slain Chicago Officer Honored During Annual Peace Campout

(CBS) -- For the seventh consecutive year, a fallen Chicago Police officer will be honored with a night of fun for neighborhood children in Chatham's Cole Park.

The event is known as "Peace in the Park after Dark."

There are more than 50 children taking part. They are well-guarded, although not obtrusively so, by police, parents, Free Masons and members of murdered Officer Thomas Wortham IV's Wisconsin National Guard unit.

Officer Wortham was president of the Cole Park Advisory Council and advocated for a reinvigorated park.

He was murdered in May 2010 in the driveway of his father's home, across the street from the park during a robbery attempt.
