Teen's Wish Fulfilled: A Contract With The Chicago Sky

CHICAGO (CBS) – The Chicago Sky signed a new player in advance of Friday's game.

Meet Taliyah Jackson, who fulfilled a dream of becoming a professional basketball player.

Game day started out like any other for the Chicago Sky, with a shootaround. Then, there was a late morning news conference to introduce Jackson.

Seventeen-year-old Taliyah inked her contract, making it official. She was seated between coach Pokey Chatman and star player Elena Delle Donne.

Taliyah is a patient at La Rabida Children's Hospital. She has a rare disease that impacts her walking and speech.

But Friday, it was all about smiles and a dream come true.

"I want to say thank you to the team," Taliyah said. "It makes me proud and happy."

Along with that contract, the teen received a jersey with her name on the back -- and a day she'll never forget.

And Taliyah made quite an impact on her new teammates at practice, Delle Donne said, "learning all our nicknames, giving nicknames."

"I think I'm The Donne, right?" she said.

Taliyah's night stands to be even better. She'll join the team for pregame warmups, in the locker room and on the bench for the game.

Then, she'll get a limo ride home.
