Aurora Man Sentenced To 28 Years For 2013 Gang Shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A west suburban Aurora man was sentenced to nearly three decades in prison Wednesday for an attempted murder in 2013.

Armando A. Delgado, 20, of the 1000 block of Tollview Avenue in Aurora was sentenced to 28 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by Judge Linda Abrahamson, according to a statement from the Kane County state's attorney's office. Delgado was convicted of a felony count of attempted murder July 6.

About 9:15 p.m. Sept. 13, 2013, Delgado and another man were in Bluff Street Park in Aurora when they appoarched a car stopped at a stop sign while shouting gang slogans, prosecutors said. Delgado tried to shoot the driver in the head before he sped away and fired at the vehicle, shattering a passenger window.

Delgado will be required to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence and will be credited for 1,088 days served in the Kane County Jail, prosecutors said.
