Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler Listed As Doubtful For Sunday's Game

By Chris Emma--

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (CBS) -- As expected, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler's status for Sunday's contest with the Lions is in doubt.

After missing practice Thursday and Friday, Cutler is officially listed as doubtful to play against the Lions. He was limited Wednesday, but the Bears elected to hold him out these past two days in order to heal the thumb sprain.

"We're going to get him healthy," Bears coach John Fox said. "That's our main objective."

The Bears can still opt to have Cutler play Sunday, though it's likely that Brian Hoyer starts for a second straight week.

Alshon Jeffery is listed as questionable to play as he deals with a knee injury, though the Bears have stressed maintenance with their star receiver. Jeffery was also questionable to play last Sunday in Dallas but suited up as expected.

The NFL's new injury-reporting designation has eliminated the probable tag, meaning questionable is the highest probability of playing.

Guard Josh Sitton (shoulder), defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard (toe), linebacker Willie Young (knee), defensive back Sherrick McManis (hamstring) and cornerback Tracy Porter (knee) are all listed as questionable. The Bears listed running back Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring), running back Jeremy Langford (ankle), defensive lineman Eddie Goldman (ankle) and linebacker Danny Trevathan (thumb) as doubtful to play.

Kickoff between the Bears (0-3) and Lions (1-2) comes at noon on Sunday from Soldier Field.
