Blackhawks Cut Roster Down To 28 Players

(CBS) Just more than a week before their regular-season opener, the Blackhawks have trimmed their roster to 28 players.

Chicago has assigned forward Spencer Abbott, forward Sam Carrick, forward Pierre-Cedric Labrie, defenseman Viktor Svedberg and defenseman Cameron Schilling to AHL Rockford.

The Blackhawks open the season by hosting the Blues on Oct. 12.
