Roof Collapses During West Garfield Park Fire

CHICAGO (CBS) – A fire broke out Tuesday morning at a vacant building in Chicago's West Garfield Park neighborhood.

Chicago Fire crews were called around 4:20 a.m. Tuesday morning, to a fire in the 4700 block of West Van Buren. The first and second floor of a vacant building were found on fire.

The fire caused part of the roof and the apartment's back porch to collapse, fire officials said.

The fire has been stuck out. CFD remains on the scene.

A small exposure to a building to the east has also been put out.

No injuries have been reported. The Chicago Fire Department is conducting an investigation.

CTA #54 Cicero buses were temporarily rerouted in both directions via Cicero, Chicago, Kostner, Division and Cicero due to fire department activity. CTA advises passengers to allow extra time and expect minor delays.
