Cubs Social Media Support Explodes As Team Clinches NLDS Victory

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Cubs' victory against the Giants in the National League Divisional Series and ongoing pennant push is inspiring all kinds of excitement on social media.

CBS 2's Vince Gerasole reports on the outpouring of online support.

Wrigleyville may be a little wet Wednesday evening, but it didn't dampen the spirits of fans here and around the globe.

"I drove past last night at 11 0'clock honking my horn," Cubs fan Gregg Schubert said.

The Cubs advancing in the playoffs had fans buying up new ways to show off their true colors.

"I feel like I want to cry ... all happiness," fan Alina Paez said. "When David Ross hit that home run I started screaming. I woke the whole neighborhood!"

In our live Facebook chat Wednesday, we caught up with believing fans from all across the country.

Mia Aquatrocchi is in Bull Shoals Lake, Arkansas, but she's been a Cubs fan most of her life.

Terry's news from Indianapolis is sweet, her husband proposed to her in Wrigley's bleachers.

Danielle shared the story of her late great-grandmother, a fan to the end buried in a Cubs uniform.

Stacey and son Gannon dropped by and recalled Tuesday night's win: "I screamed and then he woke up crying."

Members of the team were on the bus and what they have slung over their shoulders are their kids. Followers chatting about the players returning victorious with kids in tow shared pictures, too.
