Man Pulled From Vehicle In Jackson Park Harbor Identified

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man who died last week after he was pulled from a vehicle that crashed into Jackson Park Outer Harbor on the South Side has been identified.

Dive crews responded about 5:40 a.m. Wednesday and removed the 59-year-old man from a vehicle that was in the water off the 6500 block of South Promontory Drive, according to Chicago Police and Chicago Fire Department Cmdr. Curtis Hudson. He was the only person in the vehicle.

Sydney C. Frazier was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7:08 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He lived in the 2600 block of East 76th Street.

An autopsy Thursday determined he drowned when the vehicle was submerged in water, with heart disease listed as a secondary cause of death, according to the medical examiner's office. His death was ruled an accident.
