Police Investigating String Of MetroPCS Robberies

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A series of robberies at cell phone stores have been followed by arrests. Now police are looking to see if all the thefts are connected.
In just the past two weeks, a total of three MetroPCS stores were robbed: in Gage Park, Bridgeport and Brighton Park, CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot reports.

Police say 19 year-old Cedric Wright and a juvenile, are charged with felony aggravated robbery involving this Gage Park, metroPCS store, on Sunday. Both were taken into custody after a store manager noticed them on store surveillance, and thought they looked like two suspects that had robbed their Bridgeport location, ten days earlier.

"They grabbed the display phones, you know, cut them off and ran out with them," said MetroPCS Manager Joel Rodriguez.

Rodriguez says 15 minutes before the Gage Park location was robbed, phones were stolen froma Metro PCS in Brighton Park.

"People know what's new out there and they just try to do anything to get their hands on one of those phones and try to sell them," he added.

Detectives are looking into whether Wright and the juvenile, are connected to the other robberies. Police say both Wright, and the teen, indicated they had guns, as they carried out their crimes.
