CHICAGO (CBS) – A five-alarm fire took over a vacant building early Saturday in Little Village.
Crews were called for a three-alarm fire in the 2500 block of South Kostner around 2 a.m., according to the Chicago Fire Department.
Officials quickly upgraded the call to a five alarm fire, bringing 22 fire engines and about 170 firefighters to the scene. CBS 2’s Lauren Victory reports.
The rear of the building partially collapsed, with the fire destroying the back of the building.
Fire officials said the block-long abandoned building was no longer a working business. Police told CBS 2 it used to be a factory.
The fire was put out around 8:45 a.m. Saturday morning, according to fire officials. No injuries were reported.
