(CBS) The Blackhawks have signed 18-year-old forward Alex DeBrincat to a three-year deal, they announced Monday.

DeBrincat was the team’s second-round pick in last June’s draft. Playing for the Erie Otters now, he leads the Ontario Hockey League with 17 goals and has 35 points in 14 games.

He has posted consecutive 50-goal seasons in the OHL, making him one of three players since 1997-’98 to do that.
