Cubs Fan Dies After Falling From Pole Celebrating World Series Win
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Cubs fan from Lockport has died, five days after falling from a light pole in Iowa while celebrating the team's World Series win.
Kyle Leeney, 21, was celebrating the World Series victory when he climbed a light pole outside a bar in Iowa City, not far from the University of Iowa campus.
He fell from the pole, and was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with major head trauma. He died Monday.
Leeney was a sophomore at the University of Iowa, and was majoring in mechanical engineering, according to the school.
Friends have set up a gofundme account to help Leeney's family pay for his funeral.
