CHICAGO (CBS) — Two men were killed in a crash early Saturday in southwest suburban Burbank.

Officers were called at 3:11 a.m. to the scene of the crash at 79th and Meade and arrived to find a single-vehicle crash, according to a statement from Burbank police.

Witnesses told investigators the vehicle was eastbound on 79th Street when it veered to the right off the road, striking a light post and a chain-link fence in the 6000 block of West 79th, police said. Alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash.

The two Chicago men in the vehicle, ages 25 and 26, were not showing signs of life when officers arrived, according to police. They were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where they were pronounced dead. Their identities were not released pending notification of their families.

The South Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team and the Cook County medical examiner’s office are assisting with the investigation. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Burbank police at (708) 924-7300.
