Two 18-Year-Old Men Shot, 1 Fatally In South Lawndale

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two 18-year-old men were shot, one fatally, Tuesday afternoon in the South Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

The shooting happened at 2:14 p.m. in the 2300 block of South Whipple, Chicago Police said.

The men were walking north on Whipple when they heard gunshots and discovered they had been hit, police said.

One of the men was shot in the head and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died, police said. The second man was shot in the right shoulder and back, and was taken to Mount Sinai in stable condition.

Both men are documented gang members, police said.

Area Central detectives are investigating the shooting.
