More Gold Turns Up In Salvation Army Kettles

(CBS) – Gold coins have appeared in the Salvation Army's iconic red kettles all over Lake County this holiday season.

WBBM's Michele Fiore reports.

Four of the coins were dropped anonymously outside retail stores in Round Lake Beach, Grayslake, Gurnee and Libertyville. Each is estimated to be worth more than $200.

"We're humbled by it," Salvation Army spokesman Chez Ordonez says.

In addition, someone slipped a gold wedding band into one of the kettles, in Libertyville, this week.

Be sure to tune in to WBBM's Good Neighbor Radiothon, benefitting the Salvation Army, this Friday.
