Driver Overdosing On Heroin Causes Car Accident, Cops Revive Him

(CBS) – There were no major injuries after a heroin overdose led to a car crash in Prospect Heights over the weekend.

It's the latest example of someone saved by the opioid remedy Narcan, WBBM's Rob Hart reports.

Prospect Heights police say a car being driven by a man who had overdosed on heroin rear-ended another car.

The driver was revived with Narcan, and Prospect Heights Police Officer Stephanie Conboy says the anti-overdose drug is an important tool in the squad car.

"The results of it have been incredible," she says.

The driver was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge and faces charges of driving under the influence of drugs.

A 62-year-old man in the other car was taken to Glenbrook Hospital, treated and released.
