White Sox Trim 5 Players Off 40-Man Roster

(CBS) The White Sox outrighted five players Wednesday, trimming their 40-man roster to 33.

Chicago outrighted catcher Rob Brantly, right-hander Brad Goldberg, right-hander Chris Volstad, left-hander David Holmberg and outfielder Rymer Liriano to Triple-A Charlotte.

Brantly, Volstad, Holmberg and Liriano will become minor-league free agents. Goldberg will remain with the White Sox organization as a non-roster player.
