(CBS) The Cubs have signed left-handed reliever Dario Alvarez to a one-year deal, they announced Friday.
Alvarez, 28, had a 2.76 ERA in 16 1/3 innings for the Rangers in 2017. That also included a 2.02 WHIP and 7.7 walks-per-nine-innings mark. The Cubs will represent Alvarez’s fourth team in four seasons, as he’s also played for the Mets and Braves before the Rangers. He has a career 5.06 ERA in the big leagues.
Alvarez also logged a 2.33 ERA in 27 innings at Triple-A this past season.
