Hyde Park Fire Claims One Life

CHICAGO (CBS) — A fire breaks out in one apartment in a seven story building this morning, killing one woman.

It happened in Hyde Park near 55th and Cornell just before five a.m.

Despite there being many apartments in the building, the fire was confined to just one.

The person inside, a woman in her 60’s, did not survive.

Firefighters say smoke detectors in the building were working.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
