Former Banker Gets Prison Term For Stealing From Elderly

WHEATON, Ill. (AP) -- A suburban Chicago banker has been sentenced to four years in prison for stealing more than $325,000 from elderly customers' accounts.

A DuPage County judge sentenced 48-year-old Christine Lange of Summit on Monday. She pleaded guilty to felony theft in August.

Lange was an account executive at Trust Company of Illinois in Downers Grove. Authorities say she accessed three customers' bank accounts on 84 occasions between September 2012 and June 2016.

She transferred a total of $328,000 from the accounts into her own personal bank accounts. All of the victims were in their early 90s.

Authorities began investigating after one of the victims alerted the company and local police. DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin calls the crime "despicable." Lange was taken into custody Monday to begin serving her sentence.
