CHICAGO (CBS)–Police responded to the Haan Funeral Home in Bridgeview Wednesday night for a report of a person shot in the kitchen.
A heavy police presence surrounded the funeral home on the 8200 block of South Harlem around 9:00 p.m.
A male in his early 20’s was shot and treated by medical personnel on scene. After the victim was taken Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, he fled the hospital between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00, according to Ray Hanania, spokesperson for the Village of Bridgeview.
Bridgeview police are investigating. No information on the alleged shooter was immediately available. As police search for the victim and shooter, authorities said many of the witnesses are reluctant to speak about the incident nor are they willing to identify the victim or the shooter.
Authorities said several of the individuals involved in the fight were members of a “Chicago regional street gang one of the gang members pulled out a gun and fired it one time striking another attendee.”
