Memorial Day Weekend Shootings Reach A Total Of 39

CHICAGO (CBS)--Over Memorial Day weekend, 39 people were shot in Chicago--seven of them were killed, police said.

This year's total is down from past years.

Last year, 36 people were shot, seven killed over the weekend.

In 2017, it was 44 shot, six dead. In 2016 61 people were shot, seven killed.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said people expect to see her at shooting scenes and that she plans to be at as many of them as possible.
