1 Killed, 10 Injured in Shooting Outside Kelly's Pub In South Bend

CHICAGO (CBS)– At least one person is dead and 10 others injured after shooting outside a bar in South Bend, Indiana.

It happened around 2 a.m. Sunday outside Kelly's Pub on Mishawaka Avenue.

The deceased victim has been identified as Brandon D. Williams, 27, of Niles, Mich., and his family has been notified. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning in Fort Wayne.

Ten additional gunshot wound victims have been identified, and were treated at area hospitals. Five patients remain at the hospitals in stable condition. All others have been treated and released.

"According to witness accounts and limited video from the area, the parking lots immediately surrounding the pub were congested with cars and a crowd of approximately 75-100 individuals at the time of the shooting," according to a statement from the St. Joseph County Homicide Unit. "While several witnesses have been interviewed at the County Metro Homicide Unit, this is an active and on-going investigation."

There were 50 to 100 people at the bar when the shooting happened.

No word yet on whether arrests have been made.

Last week, South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg pulled himself off the presidential campaign trail Monday after the fatal shooting of a black man by a white police officer.

Buttigieg and South Bend Police Chief Scott Ruszkowski are going to participate in a town hall on Sunday to discuss the police shooting and could face questions about the bar shooting as well.

The Democrat earlier met with community members and faith leaders following the shooting of 54-year-old Eric Jack Logan on June 16.

Sgt. Ryan O'Neill had been responding to a call about a suspicious person going through vehicles when he spotted Logan leaning inside a car, St. Joseph County Prosecutor Ken Cotter said. When confronted, Logan approached the officer with a 6- to 8-inch knife raised over his head, Cotter said. That's when O'Neill fired twice, with the other shot hitting a car door, Cotter said.
