Jennifer Hudson Hosts 'Hatch Day' To Bring School Supplies To Kids In Need
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson and her sister, activist Julia Hudson, hosted their ninth annual Hatch Day at Bellevue Ministry Center at 107th and Halsted in Chicago's Roseland neighborhood Wednesday morning.
They gave away full backpacks to thousands of students to help get ready for school.
They created the event in honor of Hudson's nephew Julian King, who was shot and killed along with Hudson's brother and mother almost 11 years ago.
