Indiana Wrapping Up Water Tests For Toxic Blue-Green Algae By Labor Day
CHICAGO (CBS)-- Indiana's trying to wrap up testing by Labor Day for a dangerous bacteria, one that could make you and your pets sick.
The bacteria is found in blue-green algae, and it's been showing up in waterways across the state.
So far, high counts have been found in eight lakes across Indiana, including Worster Lake at Potato Creek State Park.
Blue-algae can produce toxic chemicals that can get into your system when swimming, drinking, or cooking.
Indiana officials are providing updates on the Indiana Department of Natural Resources website.
