13-Year-Old Boy, Officer Injured In Zion Apartment Building Fire

CHICAGO (CBS)-- A child and a police officer were injured in an apartment fire in Zion.

The fire broke out at Joppa Avenue around 11 p.m. Monday.

Fire officials said officers responded to a call someone had been shot.

There was no shooting, but crews did find a 13-year-old boy with burns.

Flames and smoke filled the building.

An officer suffered smoke inhalation as he helped residents to safety.

Investigators don't know what caused the fire.
