Chicago Chapter Of United Auto Workers Celebrates Life Of George Floyd

CHICAGO (CBS) -- George Floyd was a member of the United Auto Workers union, and on Sunday, the union's Chicago chapter honored his life.

UAW Local 551 held the celebration at its union hall at 13550 S. Torrence Ave. in the Hegewisch neighborhood.

To honor Floyd, those in attendance held candles or turned their cellphone flashlights on for 8 minutes and 46 seconds.

That is how long Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd's neck before Floyd died.
