CHICAGO (CBS) — The Cook County Jail lost power in multiple divisions late Wednesday.

The Cook County Sheriff’s office said it was using backup generators and was able to provide lights, power, and technology.

All inmates and staff were secure and accounted for, the Sheriff’s office said.

The facilities management team at the jail was working on restoring power.

It was unclear early Wednesday evening what caused the power outage.
