Whihala Beach In Indiana To Close After Large Crowds Fail To Follow Social Distancing Guidelines

CHICAGO (CBS)-- A beach in northwest Indiana is being shut down to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Starting Wednesday, Whihala Beach will be closed until further notice.

Whiting Mayor Joe Stahura said large crowds at the beach have been unable to consistently follow social distancing guidelines.

Whiting Lakefront Park will also be closed, but bike and walking trails will remain open.
