Man Hit, Killed By Car In East Garfield Park

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man is dead after being hit by a car Wednesday evening in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.

At 7:48 p.m., the 54-year-old man was walking west in the street 2600 block of West Van Buren Street, police said.

A vehicle headed west hit the man from behind and then sped off, police said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead.

The police Major Accident Investigation Unit was investigating the hit-and-run late Wednesday.
