Mayor Lightfoot Addressing Chicago's Controversial Statues, Memorials Thursday Night

CHICAGO (CBS)-- Mayor Lori Lightfoot will address some of the controversial statues and memorials in Chicago.

Lightfoot ordered statues of Christopher Columbus be taken down, after people started demonstrating and vandalizing.

Thursday night, the mayor will hold a virtual meeting for the "Chicago Monuments Project." Her office says it will address hard truths about Chicago's racial history.

Anyone interested can log on and propose new monuments and memorials that represent their city.
