14-Year-Old Boy, Tyrese Taylor, Shot And Killed In Lawndale

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 14-year-old boy was shot and killed Thursday afternoon in the Lawndale neighborhood.

Police said the boy was on the sidewalk on the 1100 block of South Karlov Avenue, at Grenshaw Street, around 1:45 p.m., when someone shot him several times.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office, the boy was identified as Tyrese Taylor. The Legal Help Firm reported Tyrese had just finished eighth grade at Daniel Webster Elementary School, 4055 W. Arthington St., and was headed to high school.

No one was in custody Thursday night.

Area Four detectives were investigating.
