Woman, 63, Struck And Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver In Lincolnwood

LINCOLNWOOD, Ill. (CBS)-- The search is on for a hit and run driver in north suburban Lincolnwood. Police said a driver struck and killed a woman Sunday night on Touhy Avenue, and didn't stop.

CBS 2's Mugo Odigwe reported Monday morning that Lincolnwood Police were called to the scene of a hit-and-run crash around 9:05 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Touhy Avenue between McCormick Boulevard and Town Center Drive.

A 63-year-old woman had been struck by a vehicle at that location, and was taken to Amita Health St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in critical condition. She was pronounced dead a short time later.

Officers were on scene for more than five hours investigating, using flashlights to search for evidence on the ground.

Police said, based on the evidence they found, they believe the driver was in a newer model – possibly 2019 or 2020 -- Hyundai Santa Fe. The driver didn't stop after hitting the victim.

The victim's name has not been released. Police said they are waiting to notify her family before making her name public.

Anyone with information on the hit-and-run is asked to call the Lincolnwood Police Department at (847) 673-2167.
