CHICAGO (CBS) — More than 650 children who lost family members to gun violence got a special treat Saturday.

They each got a present worth $25 as well as a craft kit, gift card, and holiday meal at an annual event hosted by the group Chicago Survivors.

The goal is to help kids through the holidays as they remember loved ones lost to homicide.

Chicago Survivors also holds workshops to discuss grief and coping skills throughout the holiday season.
