Guide To Maywood Park Racetrack

Chicago is a sports-obsessed city. That obsession has no limits, and it expands beyond the four major sports into areas like harness racing. Maywood Park Racetrack, just 17 miles from downtown Chicago, stands on what used to be the cook county fair grounds. The track is recognized as one of the safest and fastest in North America. And with 59 consecutive years of harness racing , the longest streak in Illinois, Maywood Park Racetrack presents some of the most active and exciting horse racing in the state.

Driving:

From the North: Take 294 South. Exit onto IL-19 W/W Irving Park Rd. Turn left at US-12 E/US-45 S/N Mannheim Rd. Turn right at W North Ave. Turn right onto the ramp to IL-64 E/W North Ave. Turn right at IL-64 E/W North Ave. Turn right at 5th Ave.

From the South: Take the I-294 W exit toward Rockford/Chicago/I-290 E. Keep right at the fork to continue toward I-88 E and merge onto I-88 E. Merge onto I-290 E. Take exit 20 toward IL-171/1st Ave. Merge onto Bataan Dr. Turn left at IL-171 N/1st Ave. Turn left at Chicago Ave. Turn right at N 5th Ave.

From the East: Take I-290 W. Turn right at IL-171 N/1st Ave. Turn left at Chicago Ave. Turn right at N 5th Ave.

From the West: Take I-88 E. Merge onto I-290 E. Take exit 20 toward IL-171/1st Ave. Merge onto Bataan Dr. Turn left at IL-171 N/1st Ave. Turn left at Chicago Ave.

Parking:
General parking for the simulcasts and live racing is free (7th Avenue lot). Valet parking is available for $4.

Public Transportation:
Metra's Union Pacific West line Maywood stop is less than a mile and a half from Maywood Park Racetrack. For additional information on getting there via public transportation call 708-343-4800.

SEATING:

There are two main seating areas inside the racetrack. Patrons can visit the Winner's Circle Dining room for a $2 favorites admission, although reservations are recommended (reservations@maywoodpark.com). Once inside the dining room you can watch the races from the tiered seating sections and browse the new menu or indulge yourself at the All You Can Eat Buffet.

The second seating area is known as the Saddle and Sulky Room. The room features over twenty 70" flat-screen TVs, leather recliners, private desk carrels and a full service bar with wait service. General admission into the Saddle and Sulky Room is $3, a private desk carrel will cost an additional $2 for one TV and $3 for two TVs. To step up your comfort level you can reserve a leather recliner with a TV for $5.

You can't bet from your living room. And you can't bring your living room with you to the racetrack. Maywood Park knows this and wants to meet you half way. With their Super Booths you can enjoy all the luxuries of your own living room while being at the racetrack. With a private betting machine, leather couches and chair, coffee table, entertainment center and five TVs, you might just want to move in. Super Booths with seating for seven run for $20 and for seating for four cost $15.
