Best Swim Classes In Chicago

With warm weather around the corner, many parents are looking into swimming programs for their children. Whether it's learning to swim at a young age or simply developing stronger swimming skills, there are programs in Chicago that cater to all age groups. Swimming can be a great exercise to help children stay active during their time off from school and it can be something to help fill time during the summer months. Take advantage of all the different swimming programs Chicago has to offer and make the most of the upcoming summer.

Cypress Cove is a family aquatic park that offers a number of aquatic classes that cater to differing age groups, from adult water walking to preschool swim lessons. The Beginner Diving Lessons is a class offered for children six years or older with a price of $42 for residents and $63 for non-residents. Registration starts March 13, 2013 and ends June 18, 2013. Classes begin June 18, 2013 and meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:25 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. There are six classes in total that help to teach children how to dive in a number of different ways.

Niles Park District's Oasis Fun Center is a family-friendly water park with distinct areas for aquatic fun. Adults enjoy the designated times for adult-only swim and kids enjoy the tree house play area featuring water spouts and a slide. There are a number of different swim lessons and classes offered at Oasis Fun Center. The first session for the Parent & Tot class is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. starting June 11, 2013 to July 6, 2013. The price is $34 for residents and $42 for non-residents.

Chicago Blue Dolphins offers a swim studio that has movement isolation and endless repetition features. It is an indoor pool that is set at 90 degrees Fahrenheit, rather than the 78 to 82 degrees that is the traditional temperature in other pools. There are a number of different swim classes to choose from, whether you're 13 years or older and afraid of the water after a traumatic experience or new to swimming in general. There are private, semi-private or group classes. General registry for a preschooler between the ages of four and five is a weekly class with registration required for each week of the month. The price is $72.50 for one session, which includes evaluation services to determine whether or not your child is able to step up to the next level of ability.

Goldfish Swim School is a state-of-the-art facility that holds year-round instruction for children four months and older. Small classes are guaranteed with no more than four students per instructor. The pool is heated and kept at 90 degrees Fahrenheit and all staff is instructed Red Cross-certified swim instructors. Discounts are offered for families with more than one child in enrollment. Group sessions are $87 a month, mini sessions are $116 a month, semi-private lessons are $140 a month and private lessons are $195 a month. New classes and various dates can be found to suit any schedule. Call the number listed above and enroll your child in a swim lesson program that is catered to your individual preferences, whether it's a particular day of the week or a particular time of the day.

The YMCA of Metro Chicago has a number of swimming lessons for different age categories. There are parent-child lessons starting at six months old all the way to adult classes for those 18 years and up. The spring session is from April 14, 2013 to June 8, 2013. While summer course information has yet to be announced, private or semi-private lessons are offered year-round. Individual 30-minute classes are $30 for members and $60 for non-members.
