Quick, name a few pro sports teams in Chicago. You’ll probably think of the White Sox, the Cubs, the Bears, the Bulls and the Sky. But did you know the city and suburbs boast a wide selection of pro wrestling events, too? While you may already have tickets to WWE Live at Allstate Arena on Sept. 24, there are plenty of additional pro wrestling shows in the Chicago area on the calendar where you may even be able to root for local heroes as they step into the ring. Many of the events are open to kids, too, so you can bring the entire family. Keep this list of must-see pro wrestling events on the schedule through the rest of 2016 in mind the next time you’re looking for ideas for a fun night out.

If you’re looking for a pro wrestling event, you likely won’t have to travel far. Chicago-based pro wrestling company AAW Wrestling has a slew of upcoming events in the next few months in the city and suburbs. The lineup for upcoming shows is typically announced several weeks in advance of the event. Upcoming events include shows on September 16 and November 4 at 115 Bourbon Street and The Windy City Classic XII on November 26 at Logan Square Auditorium (2539 N. Kedzie Blvd., Chicago). The Chikara Supremacy

Season 16 of Chikara comes to an end with The Chikara Supremacy. Held Dec. 3 at Logan Square Auditorium in the city’s Logan Square neighborhood, the event kicks off at 7 p.m. and includes plenty of family-friendly events. Chikara’s roster includes Hallowicked, Hermit Crab, Fire Ant and Princess Kimberlee, and you can take a look at character bios and the athletes’ signature moves online. Chikara and The Temple of Doom will also take place at Logan Square Auditorium on Dec. 3. Tickets to both events can be purchased in advance via Chikara’s website.
Pro Wrestling Blitz
Billed as “Up and coming largest wrestling business in the Midwest,” Pro Wrestling Blitz has plenty of shows located in the western suburb of Joliet. The next upcoming show is slated for Oct. 22 starting at 6 p.m. and includes a cast of characters complete with storylines that will keep you intrigued. You can also liven up your holiday plans by checking out Pro Wrestling Blitz’s additional shows in 2016, with events slated for Nov. 26 and Dec. 17. Shows have been scheduled throughout the western suburbs; take a look at Pro Wrestling Blitz’s website for additional details, location information, and a full schedule. Resistance Pro Wrestling
There’s a whole new cast of pro wrestlers to watch through Resistance Pro Wrestling, with a lengthy roster that’s sure to interest any fan (take a look at who’s who on the organization’s website). The shows are suitable for all ages, so load up the car and consider bringing the family. Upcoming shows will take place Sep. 10 and Nov. 5, and event details and location information are posted on Resistance’s website and official Facebook page in advance of the shows. Previous shows have taken place at Sparks Center in the western suburb of Summit.
UnderGround Wrestling Academy

Make your way to the western suburb of Villa Park for shows by UnderGround Wrestling. The organization, which calls its shows “the new revolution of pro wrestling entertainment,” boasts a roster that includes “The Light Bringer” Jesus Bryce, Priest and The Littlest Viking. And hey, who are these wrestlers, anyway? UnderGround Wrestling’s website includes a quick guide to the factions in the organization that you can check out before the next show. Mark your calendar, as the next show is Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. at the address above. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12 years of age.
