Cinco De Mayo Celebrations In Chicago

Taco Joint offers regional Mexican street fare right in the Windy City. From Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5, their 2 locations in Lincoln Park and River North will feature three days of Cinco de Mayo-inspired drink specials, including $5 margaritas and $5 cans of Tecate served with a shot of tequila. 

On Saturday, May 4, Taco Joint (both locations) will hold a "Derby de Mayo" party featuring $5 mint juleps made with bourbon, tequila and rum. Guests will be entered to win prizes including dining gift certificates, bottles of tequila and tequila brand merchandise. The outdoor patio also opens at their River North location, just in time for Cinco de Mayo and derby celebrations!

ZOCALO Restaurant and Tequila Bar in River North features a mix of both classic and contemporary regional dishes. From Friday May 3 to Sunday, May 5, the restaurant will offer Cinco de Mayo drink specials including $5 margaritas and $5 cans of Tecate served with a shot of tequila. Latin band Fandanguero will perform in the lounge on Friday, May 3 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Saturday, May 4, Latin band Acustico will perform in the lounge from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., alternating with a DJ spinning from 8 p.m. to midnight. A raffle will held for prizes including dining gift certificates, bottles of tequila, tequila merchandise and more. ZOCALO offers over 130 tequilas and mezcals, which can be taken neat, or in one of many of their tasty margaritas and signature cocktails.

On Sunday, May 5, Wicker Park's High Noon Saloon will offer Cinco de Mayo drink specials including $4 Pacifico Drafts, $3 Corona Bottles and $3 Milagro Shots. DJ Pound will spin from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. and a live mariachi band will perform at 4 p.m. High Noon Saloon's sidewalk patio on Milwaukee Avenue will be open (if Spring arrives!). The "saloon-style" venue features Tex Mex cuisine, an array of margaritas and over 30 tequilas and mezcals.

Cactus Bar & Grill in the loop will celebrate "Tres de Mayo" on Friday, May 3. The pre-cinco party will feature $7 Margaritas, $25 Mexican beer buckets (Corona/Corona Light) and $5 salsa & chips. A DJ will spin from 4 p.m.- 9 p.m. and a raffle will be held for prizes including beach chairs, gift certificates, Sox tickets and a Corona-stocked beer cooler. The vacation-esque bar, where it's always "Man vs. Margarita," offers a full menu of pub favorites including, burgers, wings, salads and wraps. Other Mexican-inspired dishes such as guacamole and chips, chicken tortilla soup, mini tostadas, quesadillas and taco salad are house favorites.

Nacional 27 will hold a Cinco de Mayo celebration that incorporates drinks, dinner and dancing on Saturday, May 5 from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. The evening will begin with half-price tacos and empanadas from 5-7p.m. in the lounge. Wash those down with pitchers of their festive cocktails. A couple to try are the rhubarb margarita and smokey punch.

Dinner service will include a special prix fixe menu by Chef Chico Vilchez for$29.95 per person. The party continues with DJs and dancing until 3a.m.
